Johnson Controls Headquarters

The design for JCI’s Asia Headquarters relocates four previously separate business units into flexible work neighborhoods surrounding a five-story atrium that encourages collaboration and spontaneous encounters. Space reflects the organization’s culture of community and wellness and includes a gym, healthcare clinic, coffee shop, and canteen, as well as large windows that offer natural light and views of the Suzhou Creek.

Allergan: Experience Design

Leading global pharmaceutical company, Allergan, partnered with Gensler to realize a holistic brand program at its new administrative headquarters. Featuring digital content development and environmental graphic design, the program immerses employees and guests in a experiential, visual narrative of Allergan’s culture, mission, and people. At the office entrance, eight 13-foot-high digital screens display dynamic visuals reflecting Allergan’s culture and services.

The Meredith Residence

The Phoenix-based architect Wendell Burnette is known for designing buildings with a keen sense of place, whether it’s a galvanized zinc box of a house that sits on a flat Wisconsin crop field or the house shown here, on a five-acre site in a desert valley north of Cave Creek, Arizona. Designed as an emptynest home for Keith and Kim Meredith, the distinctive structure defines, Burnette says, “the core concept of how we live in the desert.” His clients, whom he describes as “into Eastern philosophy, paring down, and being close to nature,” had no interest in a conventional house.
